This is a new page where I will display all the requests for assistance with the myriad of jobs which constantly need doing on any preserved railway.
While it is aimed mainly at the working members of Llangollen Railway, if you feel that you would like to get involved just get in touch.
There are certain basic requirements, such as Membership of the Llangollen Railway Trust: the membership form is printed in the timetable leaflet, or a form is available by download from this website. The next step in becoming a working member is to appear on the platform at Llangollen Station and make yourself known to those working there. They will then put you in touch with the relevant person for the work you are interested in.
To go ‘Trackside’ you will need to pass the test for a PTS Certificate, the minimum requirement to work at track level and which proves competence to keep yourself and those working with you safe.
So, if you feel like a change of scenery, a need to get out in the open and feel free, you are getting a bit unfit and would like to just get a bit fitter, then keep an eye on this page.

Graham Hoyland has asked if volunteers can contact him to form a Permanent Way Track Gang to work on whatever needs doing, from brushwood clearing to scrap recovery to track maintenance. Volunteers will need to have or take the PTS test to ensure that they are safe when working trackside.
This will appeal to anyone who has free days(or even the odd day free) and would like to spend the day in the fresh air, away from road traffic noise, doing light (or heavy, your choice) physical work to get away from the stresses of normal daily life.
For more information, please contact Graham Hoyland through the Railway Office on 01978 860 979

Harry Barber has asked me to put a call out for extra assistance in the Carriage and Wagon Dept. The workload is due to increase in the near future with more vehicles coming in for refurbishment and Harry and Mal need more people to carry on with the present workload. No trade experience is necessary, general help with cleaning, painting, filling, rubbing down etc is also needed. Wednesdays are a good day if you are retired and looking for something different to do, however the work continues 7 days a week if you prefer the Weekends.
A current PTS certificate will be needed for working at track level. Please contact the railway office on 01978 860 979 for more information, how to find Pentrefelyn Shed and who to ask for.
Request for Info on Barmouth South Signal Box
from Simon Berry
Replies please via the Webmaster, LR Office or Foxcote Manor Group
I am looking for information about Barmouth South signal box, photos, diagrams etc.
If anyone has any information I would be grateful for it as I am trying to restore
the box as it would have been at Barmouth.
Thanks
Simon Berry
