Work continues behind the scenes
Although Llangollen Railway is currently closed and not running any services, until the Santa Specials in December, staff and volunteers have been working extremely hard behind the scenes at both ends of the railway.
Thanks to Gerald Gunther and Steve Jones from our Suburban Restoration Group we now have our 5th Lantern installed on Platform 2 at Llangollen Station with all 5 now showing the etched “Llangollen” on the front glass. This latest lamppost just needs painting and wiring into the mains to complete the job. These will look great, especially during the darker nights of the winter months.
Volunteers have been working alongside the Permanent Way team at Llangollen over the last few weeks removing worn out sleepers and replacing them. This has involved a huge amount of effort and we would like to thank everyone involved.
Lastly, the view from the cab of the first mainline diesel to Green Lane, Corwen for some ballast dropping. The ongoing work at Corwen Station continues and we hope to bring you further updates soon.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer at Llangollen Railway please have a look at our Volunteer Page for more information.
Thanks to Paul Bailey, Mark Smales, David Tyrer and Terry Pickthall for the photographs.
