1960’s Weekend

1960’s WEEKEND

3rd and 4th August 2024

We’re delighted to welcome the much-loved 1960’s Weekend back to our events calendar for 2024.

Dig out your flares or mini-skirt ready to sample the atmosphere of the 1960s on a Welsh branch line.

We are recreating the British rail network as it was in the 1960s, with an intensive timetable operated by Steam and Diesel trains, and the scenic Diesel Railcar.

Everyone is encouraged to dress-up in their best retro clothing and to immerse themselves in the sights, sounds and ambience of the decade!

Numerous live singers are performing at Llangollen Station throughout the weekend playing a wide range of hits.

Frequent Rail Service including the morning Milk Train and Cambrian Coast Express.

Watch the Porters loading goods onto our trains. You may even witness angry protests about the line’s pending closure.

Hop on our vintage rail-replacement Crosville bus to take a circular tour from Corwen.

Take the controls of our Class 08 Shunter at Corwen with our Driver-for-a-Fiver experience*, offering a unique hands-on opportunity for enthusiasts.  Age restrictions apply, 16+.

Vintage vehicles at Glyndyfrdwy and Llangollen. Hillman Imp Rally at Glyndyfrdwy on the Saturday.

Exhibition of 1960s Railway and fashion memorabilia on Llangollen’s footbridge.

Exhibition about the line’s history and the Beeching Report in Corwen’s Waiting Room.

Refreshment facilities at Llangollen (including Real Ale Bar upstairs), Corwen and Glyndyfrdwy (including Porter’s Bar).

Additionally, browse the various stalls at Llangollen Station for vintage treasures and railway memorabilia.
