GWR Hall Class 5967 ‘Bickmarsh Hall’
№ 5967 “Bickmarsh Hall” began its working life in the Midlands working out of the sheds at Chester, Oxley and Banbury. In the mid-1950s the locomotive moved to Newton Abbot in the West Country. Here it would have helped in summer with all the numerous holiday expresses and relief services that passed through on their way to and from the popular resorts in Devon and Cornwall. In 1960 the locomotive moved onto Westbury and then a few months later to Old Oak Common in London. For its last year in service, it returned to Westbury once again before making its final journey to Woodham Brothers Scrapyard, Barry, following withdrawal.
“Bickmarsh Hall” left Woodham Brothers Scrapyard in 1994 for preservation and storage at the Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway whilst awaiting restoration.
She arrived at the Northampton & Lamport Railway in January 2008 where restoration commenced. In June 2024 she was moved to Llangollen Railway where major restoration works have commenced.
