Dig out your flares or mini-skirt and get ready to sample the atmosphere of the 1960’s on a Welsh branch line!

The 1960s were an era of change for the railways, marked by the transition from steam to diesel, railcar, and electric services, alongside the pivotal ‘Reshaping Of British Railways’ Report, which led to the closure of many rural lines, including what is now the Llangollen & Corwen Railway. Our event will faithfully recreate the ambience of the British rail network as it was in the 1960s, featuring an intensive timetable operated by steam, diesel, and railcar trains. Additionally, a vintage rail replacement bus will be in operation, and you can witness a re-enacted protest against the line’s closure!

Visitors are encouraged to embrace the spirit of the decade by dressing in period attire. Expect to be immersed in the sights and sounds synonymous with the 1960s, including live music, classic cars, passengers in authentic period clothing, and grumpy porters loading parcels onto trains.
